Excelvan BM 800 Condenser Studio Microphone Review

Since it does not include a microphone stand, I would very much recommend you to get one within your budget.

Design and Performance:

The Excelvan BM 800 microphone gives a unidirectional polar pattern, and it works relatively well at the isolation of sound source from the background noise. The frequency response is 20Hz to 20KHz, and it does a really nice job of capturing the audio.

Features:

In terms of a microphone that is made with a lower budget audience in mind, the BM- 800 is built with an amazingly high quality. It is covered by a zinc alloy housing and a gold-plated mesh that is made of steel especially made to give you a sturdy protection for its diaphragm and internal components. Unless and until you try your level best to
damage this guy, it’s going to hold up well through the regular wear and tear. The mic also comes with a solid shockproof mount in order to keep it secure and reduce that unwanted rattling to a minimum. This mic is a unidirectional condenser you’ll have to remember to keep the side marked BM 800 facing your desired audio source.

Its removable foam cap helps shield the mic from wind interference which is probably one of its other great features, you can record outdoors, or under the fan and be worry free.

You should know that this is a Phantom Powered microphone. There are a few versions of this mic that require batteries to function; this version too needs a phantom power. The BM-800 is sold under several brand names the brand you choose will get a battery powered model or a phantom powered model. Since confusions are created, be sure to pay close attention to the specifications before shopping.

It is seen that the phantom powered model yields a better sound quality and is more reliable in terms of its function. The condenser microphones are desirable because they have a wide range frequency response that are capable of catching even small details. The reason is that the condenser microphones are phantom powered, by 48 volts, many
phantom powered microphones are simply more powerful than the passive dynamic microphones. It is obvious that a mic this is powered with 48v will be more powerful than one powered by a 9v battery, AA batteries, or a 5v USB charger. It can thus be assured that the BM-800 is a considerable upgrade from the vast majority of USB and battery
powered microphones. With the set of Excelvan BM-800 you will also receive a female XLR to 3.5mm stereo
cable.

To make sure you get the best out of your mic make sure that your mixer, audio interface, or computer are capable of providing enough power to the microphone via the 3.5mm connection. Upon using laptops and desktops, some users have reported recordings of a much lower volume. However, users are seen to sufficiently power the microphone with the provided cable using phantom power as low as 14v, be sure to use the provided cable.
